The Best Samuel and David Children's Sunday School Lessons

Samuel and David Children’s Sunday School Lessons

Lucky you! You get to teach some of my favorite stories in Scripture. The time of the Judges is over, and Israel is growing as a recognized nation in its new homeland. Now, they need leaders who will take their own lead from God.

Included in this collection:

Hannah Gives Samuel to God – honoring God by returning to Him what He gives to us

The Lord Rejects Eli and His Sons, and Calls Samuel – listening for God to speak to us

Saul Becomes King – honoring God as the true King

God Rejects Saul and Chooses David as King – God looks at the heart

David and Goliath – God can help us in any situation

Saul Visits a Witch, and David Becomes King – what happens when we die?

Good Idea or Bad Idea? Uzzah Catches the Ark – the importance of obeying God exactly

Each lesson has games, crafts, and other activities to help you teach the stories and to help the kids apply the message. I’m also including a list of resources you might want to add to the lessons to make them that much better.

Recommended Extras

You don’t need anything extra to use the lessons. I will, however, provide some suggestions you might find helpful. You can use these resources in addition to or instead of the ideas I’ve provided.

Here are the resources I recommend for the entire series. I’ll list story-specific resources at the end of each lesson.

The Complete Illustrated Children’s Bible – for telling the stories with beautiful artwork and Biblical accuracy

The Beginner’s Bible: Timeless Stories for Children – for telling the stories to younger children

Manga Comic Book: Melech – for your classroom or church library

My Big Book of Bible Heroes Devotional – a devotional to recommend for families or older students

Bible Fun Factory: King David – additional or substitutional material for your lessons
