1 Chronicles 5:20 Scripture Meditation by Stephen Taylor

1 Chronicles 5:20

They were helped in fighting them, and God delivered the Hagrites and all their allies into their hands, because they cried out to Him during the battle. He answered their prayers, because they trusted in Him.

The question isn’t whether we are in a battle but whether we are winning or losing. This morning, this verse stuck out to me for so many reasons. The verse before this one says that these men were trained in all different forms of combat and trained for battle. These weren’t just your run-of-the-mill people but rather warriors, and yet they still needed help!

We are no different from them! We may be experts in a vast array of things, but none of us can win the  battle without the Lord by our side! We may have a small victory here or there, but unless we cry out to the Lord AND trust Him, we will be defeated!

This verse tells us that our victory comes from trusting the Lord! Our prayers can be answered by trusting in the Lord! I love how it says they cried out to Him during the battle; that means they knew Him before the battle! They didn’t stop the battle to learn about the Lord or know Him, but they knew Him going into it and knew they could call on Him for deliverance! They didn’t stop fighting either; they cried out to the Lord during combat, and He delivered them! Trust brought their triumph!

So, let’s get to know Him now, cry out to Him, and continue to fight! No matter how big and bad we think we might be, there is an enemy who is stronger than us but not nearly as strong as the One in us!!!

1 John 4:4: You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

Cry out in combat to the Lord and trust Him; then, watch your deliverance unfold!

I love you all, God bless and Glory, Honor, and Praise forever and only to Papa God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit!

1 Chronicles 5:20

They were helped in fighting them, and God delivered the Hagrites and all their allies into their hands because they cried out to Him during the battle. He answered their prayers because they trusted in Him.

God didn't deliver them because they were "good people." He didn't deliver them because they deserved it. He didn't even deliver them because they were His. The Bible says it was because they had enough faith to cry out to Him during the battle and trusted Him to deliver! Can we say the same? Often, we pray and ask God to allow us to avoid the battle and to take us around it. But when we find ourselves in it, do we trust Him to see us through it? Do our prayers stop when the battle starts, or do they intensify and grow as we lean into our faith in God Almighty? This is easier said than done, but it doesn't change the fact that we have to do it.

This life in itself is a battle; every day, we are to put on the entire Armor of God and step out onto the battlefield. The battle doesn't stop because we're not ready but will rage every day until Christ returns! Some days are easier, and some days are harder, but every day, God is good, faithful, and sitting on His glorious and eternal throne! Can we, as His redeemed people, stop crying and complaining about every little thing that we are going through and start crying out to Him? Harsh, maybe. But in all reality, the Son of God and our King was crucified to make us right with God. He didn't complain and throw a fit about it, but rather He picked up His cross and walked it out. Will we follow Him today?

John 12:26-28- Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me. "Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!" Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and will glorify it again."

God bless! I love you all, but His love is perfect! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
