Isaiah 11 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Isaiah 11:1,2

1) A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots, a Branch will bear fruit. 2) The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD.

What a cool picture of Jesus, our Branch bearing fruit. I have never thought about it like that before, but He bore much fruit during His ministry and is still doing it to this day! We could never truly understand or match the fruit He produces, but we can operate in the Spirit He gave us and produce fruit of our own.

In verse two, it talks about all these glorious gifts that the Spirit brought Jesus while here on earth. That same Spirit lives in us! It encouraged me to read this list and be reminded that He is alive and working in me this way too! He’s working in all believers who listen and obey Him!

We don’t have to walk around wishing but rather can walk in the power and Presence of the Holy Spirit! If we need a guide, He’s got us. If we’re in the dark, He will enlighten us. If we’re being overpowered, He will strengthen us. If we desire to fear the Lord, He will instruct us!

Sometimes, I think we as believers handcuff ourselves. We can get focused on who we are instead of Who He is. It’s easy sometimes to look at the situation instead of the Creator, but in those seasons of difficulty, that’s when we need to lean in all the more. Our merciful, gracious, and loving Heavenly Father has given us Himself, His Son, and His Spirit in order that we may bring glory and honor to His name, stand firm in the faith and be saved, and lead others to the freedom we have been given in Christ! Let’s walk in worship and that blessing today!

2 Peter 1:3 - His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.

John 8:36 – “So, if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

God bless! I love you all! Glory, Honor, and Praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our Risen King, and the Holy Spirit who brings us through the fire with praises on our lips!

Isaiah 11:11

“In that day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the surviving remnant of his people from Assyria, from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt, from Cush, from Elam, from Babylonia, from Hamath and from the islands of the Mediterranean.”

I love how before Christ ever came the first time, Isaiah, through the Holy Spirit, is speaking of His coming the second time! The first time the Lord reached out His hand, it was to receive a nail and to be crucified for our sins, but the second time will be the day He comes back to redeem and restore us to Himself and the Father!

Another thing I love about this verse is that these are all Gentile nations, so it’s foretelling of the grafting in of Gentile with Jew and that any and all who belong to Christ will be saved on that day! Salvation for the Gentiles was foretold, and that’s comforting because most of us are Gentiles! These nations oppressed, made slaves of, and attacked and killed God’s people, much like sin and the enemy does today. So, I also read this as deliverance from all sin, oppression, and death!

God had a plan before we made the problem! We can rest assured that if He says it, then it’s going to happen. God cannot lie, He will not forsake His people, and He will come back and redeem, rescue, and restore them to Himself one day!

Jesus Himself said in John 14:3, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am”.

In the end only one thing will matter: are you His or His enemy?

God bless!!!! I love you all! Glory, Honor, and Praise forever to Papa God, Jesus the Messiah, and the Holy Spirit!
