Exodus 17:12 Scripture Meditation by Stephen Taylor

Exodus 17:12

When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up- one on one side, one on the other- so that his hands remained steady till sunset.

To me, the stone in this verse represents Jesus. Jesus is our rock, our firm foundation! The first thing Moses does here when he grows weary is relies on Jesus His rock to support him and hold him up! God didn’t just throw Moses out there to the wolves but gave Him the support he needed to complete the task!!

Then, there are other godly people around to help Moses through this! God never wants us on an island or to feel isolated but to be in close contact with Him and His people!! I just have to make sure I’m doing it in the right order! First, rely on God, then rely on the godly people He puts in my life!!!

Holding Moses’ arms up probably sounded crazy to them, like, “We have to go up there and do what???” But they trusted God and each other and won the victory for the Lord!!! The question I have to ask myself is “Am I surrounding myself with people who will go up on a mountain to hold my hands in the air because God said so, or not??” Because, in my opinion, if they aren’t willing to hold your hands up, they are probably holding them down!!!

I love you all, God bless, and Glory to God!!
