Proverbs 4 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Proverbs 4:18

The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.

Progress, not perfection. Today, my morning routine was thrown off, and it bugged me. LOL!! But it also encouraged me! See, normally when my schedule is thrown off like that, it takes me a little while to adjust and let it go , but today, it took me less than 5 minutes! Which is a huge win for me! I still failed, but I’m growing, which means Christ is growing in me!

God doesn’t demand we be perfect or anything near it right off the bat. He does, however, call us to keep growing daily in Him! So, in sticking with that theme, God has put it on my heart to challenge you to read one chapter of the Bible every day. Willfully spending more time with God will translate into a deeper relationship with Him!! The more I grow closer to Him, the more His peace grows in me! He is God, and He doesn’t need to change or grow to be closer to us, but we do if we want to be closer to Him!

I love you all! God bless you, and as we grow closer to God, let’s give Him all the praise, honor, and glory He deserves!!!

Proverbs 4:23

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

To guard our hearts, we must first give them to the only One who can resuscitate, redeem and restore them! Yes, there are things we can do to guard our hearts physically, but ultimately, the greatest guard to our heart is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit given to those who belong to Jesus Christ. The Spirit protects from things the eyes never see.

What I mean by that is there are things all around us at all times wishing to cause us harm or trip us up into sin. We have a very real and powerful enemy that desires to break God's heart by drawing more people away from Heaven and into Hell. We cannot fight this enemy or defend against him on our own; we need to have help, and by the grace of God, we have more than what we need in our Savior!

But we have a part in this also; it's not just surrender, and everything will take care of itself but we too must be feeding the spirit, and in turn, that will guard our hearts. With daily quiet time with the Lord, reading of His Word and obeying it, prayer, fasting, serving, and worshiping, we can help strengthen our hearts as we grow in Him!

John 14:15-17- "If you love me, keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it isn't looking for Him and doesn't recognize Him. But you know Him, because He lives with you now and later will be in you.

God bless! I love you all, but His love strengthens and guards our hearts! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
