Acts 13:2 Scripture Meditation by Stephen Taylor

Acts 13:2

While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

When I was in prison, I had a “go-to guy” for everything. I had a guy I went to who cooked. I had a guy I went to for laundry. If I needed a book from the library, I had a guy for that. If I needed advice or an honest point of view, I had a guy for that too!!! All these people were my “go-to guys” for one thing or another, but now, only Jesus is my “go-to guy” for everything! It doesn’t matter what I need or how I feel, I take it to the feet of Jesus!!

My question is this: “Does Jesus consider me one of His go-to guys?” When He has a tough assignment, am I His first option or His last resort? Can I be trusted to do the heavy lifting or am I spiritually too weak to accomplish the task at hand? To me, it’s not so much about what I can do for Him as much as what I’m willing to do with Him!

Throughout the Bible, God had His “go-to guys,” but none of them accomplished anything on their own or were perfect!! You don’t have to be rich, strong, powerful, handsome, sinless, or successful to be one of God’s “go-to guys.” You just need to have a heart that is humble, loving, and willing to go where He sends you!!! Let’s choose to be the Father’s “go-to guys” today!!!!

Be encouraged and be encouraging!!!! I love you all, God bless, and Glory to God!!!!!
