1 Kings 11:39 Devotion by Stephen Taylor

1 Kings 11:39

“I will humble David's descendants because of this, but not forever."

It’s like God is calling His shot and then, knocks it out of the stadium!!!! I love when the Lord foretells of Jesus in the Old Testament! The line of David will be humbled because of their sins, but one day, it will be exalted because of His Son’s sacrifice on the Cross! It encourages me because at this point, the Lord is about to turn the kingdom of Israel over to Jeroboam, but He is so faithful and merciful that He leaves a remnant and then promises deliverance through David’s descendants!

The more I spend time with the Lord, and He reveals His heart and His Word to me, the more overwhelmed and awestruck I am of His vast love and forgiveness! It blows my mind sometimes to think that the Creator of everything takes time out of His day to spend with me! What a humble blessing this is, and one too great for words!

I just want to encourage someone today that the Bible isn’t just a book of stories but a blueprint of God’s heart! I believe that one of the reasons it was given to us is so that we may experience Him a little more and a little deeper each day! God had a plan for you before there was even a you, so let Him show you how He can turn beauty from ashes, death to life, sorrow to joy, desperation to hope, and how He humbled Himself to include us in His Kingdom!

Some keys the Lord has revealed to me to help me in my walk and life in Him: Surrender daily, repent faithfully, love boldly, pray continually, worship loudly, give generously, and serve humbly!

I love you all. God bless, and Glory, Honor, and Praise forever to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit!
