2 Corinthians 7:10 Devotion by Stephen Taylor

2 Corinthians 7:10

Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

God has reminded me lately just how thankful I am for conviction. Let me explain. Conviction is the catalyst that led me to true repentance, which led me to salvation in Jesus Christ!!! So, in other words, without conviction, I would have never known I was wrong, and if I never knew I was wrong, I would have never repented and asked for forgiveness, and then I wouldn’t have found freedom and salvation in Jesus.

Conviction isn’t a punishment but a blessing from God to call us back to our knees and to His Son. It’s not God trying to make us feel bad but rather God trying to nudge us back to Him! Conviction is not condemnation. The difference is which way it drives you. Paul clearly states here that CONVICTION + REPENTANCE = SALVATION that leaves you with no regrets but that condemnation leads to death.

I think the biggest difference in the two for me is hope. With conviction comes hope, and hope has a name: Jesus. Conviction tells me there is hope, that He can and will forgive me and help me change. Condemnation says, “You’re too far gone, so give up and don’t bother to try.” That, my friends, is a slippery slope, but thankfully, we serve the only Living God who says you’re never too far gone.

Conviction is the smoke, not the fire. It’s there to warn us that something needs to change before the whole house burns down! Don’t fear conviction, but rather embrace it as Jesus will embrace you and your repentance!!! We are not meant to live in conviction, but rather pass through it on the way to repentance and Jesus!!!

Be humble, Be honest, Be convicted find repentance and Be forgiven, and most importantly, Be more like Jesus each day! I love you all, God bless, and glory to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit!!!
