2 Samuel 22 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

2 Samuel 22:2-3

He said: "The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge, and my savior - - from violent people you save me.”

In these uncertain times, you can be certain of at least one thing: our God still reigns! Our God is still moving and saving people. Our God is not dormant or hiding but is moving and calling the captives out of the darkness. The world would want you to believe that He isn’t near or that He has left or forsaken His people, but trust me, He is very much alive and active as He has ever been!

Last night, we went to a beautiful prayer and worship service. There was no flash, no razzle-dazzle, but just some people looking to worship God and be in His Presence, and He didn’t disappoint! For a lot of us, it has been a tough year and a half, but that doesn’t mean that God isn’t here, waiting and wanting us to return and trust in Him! He wants us to stop looking at the storms around us and start looking at the One who calms them!

It’s easy to get distracted or discouraged with all this evil in the world, but remember that everything is only for a time and a season except God Almighty, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit! They are eternal and unchanging! And if you belong to Them, then your life is secure, and not just your life here on earth but the more important life that begins when this one ends!

Look at some of the words David uses here to describe our God: rock, fortress, deliverer, shield, stronghold, and Savior. These are all terms of strength and defense! Our God is not weak, our God is not dead, and our God is not finished yet!

Zephaniah 3:16-17 - On that day, they will say to Jerusalem, "Do not fear, Zion; do not let your hands hang limp. The LORD, your God, is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love, He will no longer rebuke you but will rejoice over you with singing."

God bless! I love you all! Glory, Honor, and Praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit!

2 Samuel 22:33,34

It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; He causes me to stand on the heights.

Praise God who prepares both the person and the path! It’s He who enables us and equips us for the journey. It is the Mighty One who carves the paths for us to follow in faith. How easy it can be for us to forget one of these while embracing the other. What I mean is that sometimes we see the ability God has given us, but we try to pave the road ourselves. Or we see the way carved out for us, but we wonder how we (in our own strength) can accomplish so great a feat. It’s just how we are, but that’s what makes verses like this so special and powerful. It’s a reminder that God does both for His children.

David, the writer of these verses, was not a perfect man, but he was a man of strong faith. He knew that it was both God who had given Him the victory and the road that it was on. We too can rest in these promises from our Father. We can rest assured that when He calls us to something, He will both provide us with the strength to get it done and make the way that we are to take. If God is nudging your heart, then let go of the doubt or worry and embrace this truth from the LORD! Nowhere does it say that it is easy, but it most surely says it is possible with God!

Matthew 19:26- Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Jeremiah 32:27- “I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?

God bless! I love you all, but His love lights up the darkness! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
