Galatians 6:9 Devotion by Stephen Taylor

Galatians 6:9

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Yesterday was my first day off in about 2 weeks, and my dad called me and asked if I could help him with a few things. Of course, I agreed, but I definitely didn’t have the right heart behind it. I was tired, I was selfish, I wanted to be lazy. So, I called mom and she encouraged me and reminded me to honor God with it and everything I do. So, I prayed something close to this: “I am dedicating the day to You, Lord. Let my words and actions bring You glory and show Your love! Strengthen and guide me!!”

So, dad and I set out, and on our way to our first destination, he starts asking me questions about Jesus and what I thought about this or that in the Bible. Then, the Holy Spirit took over and started talking through me, and Dad’s whole attitude changed from the last time we talked about the Lord. Instead of resistance, there was inquisitiveness and a thirst to know more. By the end of the car ride, Dad was almost in tears and is going to church with me Sunday!!!! Thank You, Jesus!!!

I say all that to encourage someone out there to never give up. Persevere!!! God is the one who has softened my dad’s heart and is drawing him in, but God is using my life as one of the ways to do it. My dad has observed and dealt with more things than any father should have to. So, when he sees me surrendering to Christ and truly making a decision to serve the Lord and forsake my old life, it spoke to him. It’s not Stephen that he is drawn to but rather Jesus in Stephen that is attractive and worth running after. When the people around you see your perseverance in the Lord, it will speak to them more than any number of words ever could!!!

Be bold, Be changed, Be resilient, Be humble, and most importantly, Be more like Jesus Christ every day!!!

I love you all, God bless, Glory to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit!!!
