Hebrews 10:25 Devotion by Stephen Taylor

Hebrews 10:25

And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

There is a saying, “it takes a village to raise a child.” Well, in my case, it took a Kingdom! And not just any kingdom but God’s Kingdom and His people! With everything going on nowadays, I feel like it’s more important than ever to listen to this command from the writer of Hebrews. I believe he was on to something when he wrote this ;-)

See, we need each other to grow, edify, encourage, love, and support one another, but there is also a huge part of this that I have missed until last night, when God reminded me that in Matthew 18:20, Jesus says, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” This is not some cool thing Jesus said but a beautiful promise from Him to us!!! So, by giving up meeting together, we are giving up a time to meet with Jesus, and who in their right mind would give that up?

What if instead of looking at church, Bible study, or small groups as a box to check, we looked at it as a personal time to go meet with Jesus!!! If you feel like you haven’t heard from the Lord in a while or that He is distant, then I have to ask, when is the last time you and a couple people met up to talk just about Him? I’m not saying this is magic or that it will fix your problems, but I do know that wherever Jesus is, evil isn’t!

I know masks aren’t comfortable, but neither was the crown of thorns Jesus wore! And the 6-foot rule is a burden, but you know what else stayed about 6 feet apart? Jesus’ hands on the Cross, and He did that with love in His heart and us in mind. Thank You, King Jesus!!! We are the church, and now more than ever, God is calling us to act like it!!!

Be encouraged, Be honest, Be selfless, Be the Church, and most importantly, Be more like Jesus!!!

I love you all, God bless, and glory to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit!!!
