Isaiah 6 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Isaiah 6:8

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

The question isn’t if you will be called to go somewhere but rather, will you go? Everyone is called to go somewhere. Some are called to go to distant lands, and some are called to go around the block, but all are called to share the Gospel and love of Jesus Christ!

I love Isaiah’s initial response. It reminds me of a young kid in a classroom who finally knows the answer and can’t wait to share it! Arm waving, making noises to get the teacher's attention, and when the teacher calls on them, they know it’s their time to shine. The only difference is that Isaiah isn’t going to be shining his light but the Lord’s! I also love that his response isn’t “for how long?” or “how far is it?” or “how can I?” but rather, he throws his hand up like, “Pick me, Lord!” Could we be a body that does that?

When the Lord calls upon us for a tough assignment or an uncertain mission, could we say, “Pick me, Lord?” Not because we are something but because He is everything, and we know that wherever He sends us, He will be with us.

Now, I have a real serious question that the Holy Spirit just dropped into my spirit: Is our obedience linked to our convenience? Are we all about serving the Lord when it fits into our schedule or His? Truth be told, I’m in a transition season myself. As one thing comes to a close, I am praying and asking the Lord to lead me where to go next. Do you want to know His response? “Be still and know that I Am God!” We have to listen and obey Him whether it fits into our plans or not. Obedience is one of the ways we show our love for the Lord, and He is worthy of it all!

John 14:15 - “If you love me, obey my commandments.

1 Samuel 15:22 - But Samuel replied: “Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.

Psalm 46:10 - He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

God bless! I love you all! Glory, Honor, and Praise forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!

Isaiah 6:8

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Isaiah had a choice, and so do we. God had a plan and a purpose for Isaiah’s life, but ultimately, it came down to whether Isaiah would respond and receive this call or reject it and run. The same can be said for each one of us. God has called us and created us for such a time as this, but He won’t override our free will and force us to walk with Him. Though He knows what’s best, He still allows us a choice; Lord, help us to make the right choice through the guidance and wisdom of your Holy Spirit.

If God doesn’t give us free will to make our choices, then why is the Bible full of Scriptures saying to choose “this,” but don’t choose “that”? God knows the right way and lays it out for us in the Scriptures, but if we choose to ignore or disobey them, then we are walking out of what He has for us and into the enemy waiting for us! If Isaiah didn’t have a choice, then why would the Lord ask aloud who would go for them? Wouldn’t He just have said, “Isaiah, you go”? Though the call upon Isaiah’s life is apparent, God still gave him a choice, and He gives it to us as well.

So today, what will you and I do with the choice He has given us? Live for His glory, or ours? Will we honor the God who created us and came to save us, or will we honor the god of this world and our flesh? If Isaiah wouldn’t have went, someone else would have. God’s will would have been accomplished, but Isaiah would have missed out on all that the Lord had for Him on this path. Let us not miss out but rather say, “Here I am. Send me!”

Esther 4:14- “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

God bless! I love you all, but His love is calling us. Will we go? Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
