Job 19:25-27 Devotion by Stephen Taylor

Job 19:25-27

I know that my redeemer lives and that in the end, He will stand on the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh, I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes—I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!

In the midst of great loss and accusations from his friends, Job is able to stand firm in his faith and look to the Lord for his hope! We might wonder how he can do this, but let me share with you something the Lord showed me last night. We were watching fireworks, and I was periodically recording them on my phone and watching them through my phone instead of looking straight at them. I looked up one time from my phone and was like, “Wow, they are way more bright, brilliant, and captivating when I’m looking straight at them!” The Holy Spirit then pressed into me that our relationship with the Lord is like that.

It’s a great blessing and very encouraging to see Him working in those around us, but nothing compares or can take the place of having a personal relationship with Him. We can’t have a relationship with Him through others. I can’t live with the Lord vicariously through you. Those fireworks I recorded were cool but nowhere near as amazing as the real thing! The Lord desires that personal relationship with us. He didn’t send Jesus to just save us but to teach us and lead us as well! It was so vitally important to Him that we know Him, that He gave us His Son, His Spirit, and His Word to help draw us in!

Job was able to stand against the storm because he was already anchored in the Rock! If you want to experience more of God, then spend more time with Him and less with the fleeting things of this world. Let’s be a people found at His feet today! I missed the finale of the fireworks because I was trying to record it with my phone; don’t miss your finale by taking your eyes off the One True God!

Matthew 7:24-25 - “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, yet it did not fall because it had its foundation on the rock.”

God bless! I love you all! Glory, Honor, and Praise forevermore to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
