Joshua 10 Devotional Thoughts by Stephen Taylor

Joshua 10:24-25

When they had brought these kings to Joshua, he summoned all the men of Israel and said to the army commanders who had come with him, "Come here and put your feet on the necks of these kings." So they came forward and placed their feet on their necks. Joshua said to them, "Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Be strong and courageous. This is what the LORD will do to all the enemies you are going to fight."

Joshua is a shadow of Christ, leading the Israelites into the Promised Land, giving them victory over their enemies, and following the commands set forth by God. So, when I read verses like these, the Holy Spirit shows me the victory we have in Jesus, how He will put the kings of this world (pride, sexual immorality, fear, etc.) under our feet. We will stand on the necks of our enemies, not because of our strength or might but because of Who He is and who we are to Him!

But we have to stop trying to fight these spiritual battles on a physical front. Paul is very clear about who our battles are against, and they most assuredly aren’t flesh and blood. The last couple of days have been a little heavier than normal. My patience has been thinner than my hair, everything seemed to be going wrong, and I could just feel the attacks around me. But He never left me. Whether I could feel His Presence or not, I knew He was there! He said He would never leave or forsake me, that He is for me, not against me, and that the only way to increase endurance is to persevere and keep the faith! So, I prayed, and I worshipped, and I spent my quiet time with Him, but trust me, the victory was all Him! I failed at times, but He never failed me! Slowly, I could feel the attacks start to fade, and my victory start to take shape, and it took the shape of the Cross! Finally, after devotional and prayer time with my wife, I could feel those enemies under my feet, and He came rushing over me and into me!

The battles are coming, and honestly, for most of us, they are already here. So, when they do come, remember, “this is what the LORD will do to all your enemies that you are going to fight.” Either way, your gonna fight, but only through Him will you win!

Joshua 10:25

Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Be strong and courageous. This is what the LORD will do to all the enemies you are going to fight."

I love this verse and the principle found in the book of Joshua. Joshua is telling the Israelites to do the same thing the Lord had told him earlier in this book. See, Joshua knows that the best leaders are the ones who follow the Lord the closest and then pass that wisdom, faith, encouragement, and hope on to their people. Joshua doesn’t keep this insight for himself or use it to make himself more powerful or desirable, but rather shares it so that the whole community can give the Lord praise and continue to seek and rely on Him!

This principle applies to all of us, not just those in ministry but to everyone who calls themselves a disciple of Christ. We are called to be different, set apart, leaders in one way or another. We have to be like Joshua and be willing to first receive the Truth and then walk it out! Once we have done that in our own lives, we are called to share it with those around us. Wisdom and knowledge from the Lord are not treasures to bury or hide but to share in the edification and encouragement of His people!

If Information is a weapon, then information and insight from the Lord would be a nuke! There is an old saying that knowledge is power, and I believe that to be true. The question is, what side are you using yours for? Empower each other with Truth from the Lord and be ready to watch your world change!!!!

Whatever flows from you, let it flow from Christ in you!!!!

I love you all. God bless and Praise, Glory and Honor to Almighty God, King Jesus, and The Spirit of Truth the Holy Spirit!
