Leviticus 22:28 Devotion by Stephen Taylor

Leviticus 22:28

Do not slaughter a cow or a sheep, and its young on the same day.

I absolutely love verses like this one. They speak to me about the heart of Almighty God! A verse like this shows me His compassion and mercy for all living things, and if He cares that much for a cow or a sheep, how much more does He care for each one of us! The more I read the Bible and spend time with Him, I realize how important mercy, kindness, and love are to Him. They are such crucial elements for sharing salvation with those around us. Everyone knows what hate, judgment, and shame feel like, but few of us have ever experienced true mercy, love, or grace until we experienced it through Jesus Christ and the love of our Father!

Another thing this teaches me is that mercy breeds mercy, kindness breeds kindness, and love breeds love! Think about it like this: if we can be kind and compassionate to an animal, how much more can we show those same things to those people around us? It’s like, if we can love the things that are below us on the food chain, how much more can we love those created in His image! I encourage you today to ask the Lord to help you to be more merciful, kinder, more compassionate, and to be more like Jesus today than any day prior! I never knew how to love until I saw love poured out for me on the Cross.

I love you all, God bless, and Glory to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit!
