Psalm 19:12 Devotion by Stephen Taylor

Psalm 19:12

How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults.

It amazes me that David, a man after God’s own heart, admits he doesn’t even know his own heart and what’s in it, that without God’s guidance in these matters, those hidden sins would remain hidden. This isn’t David denying that they are there, but it’s him crying out to the Lord to help him. He knows that every inclination of the human heart is evil and that without the help and guidance of the Lord, these things would fester and take root in his heart.

It hit me today how many times I have had a hidden sin in my life that manifests itself in anger, pride or resentment, or some other emotion to hide what’s really going on. How without the Lord's help, it would slowly tear me down and turn my heart and mind off the Lord and onto me. Just because it’s hidden doesn’t mean it doesn’t matter!!! We need to have the guts, humility, and trust in the Lord to do His good work and trust that no matter what, He has us in His hands!!

So, my prayer today went something like this, and I hope and pray you join me in it: “Help me, Papa! Search the places of my heart and mind that I cannot see or don’t want to acknowledge. Cleanse me, Lord, and allow your Holy Spirit to guide me into all Truth! Let no place remain dark or hidden in my heart but shine your Light, your Love, and your Hope in the recesses of my life. Let Jesus reign in me from this day on and let nothing be off-limits! Till the soil of my heart, plant what is desirable to You, water it with Your Word, and grow it into fruit pleasing both to You and those around me! Cultivate the Cross in my life and allow it to guide and guard me!!! This house is under new management!!! In the mighty name of Jesus, amen!!”

I love you all. God bless and take a step in faith today!!!

Praise, Honor, and Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit!!!!
