Psalm 81:13-14 Devotion by Stephen Taylor

Psalm 81:13-14

“If my people would only listen to me, if Israel would only follow my ways, how quickly I would subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes!”

How great the victory would be if we would only listen to Him more! I read this as a promise from a Father to His child, and because of Christ, we are included in this family! This verse is not just to the actual children of Israel but to everyone who is covered and redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus! Our God promises victory if we just listen and obey! How great His faithfulness to those who obey Him!

Think about it, what do you give the One who has everything? You give Him your heart and your love, and the way we do that is by obeying Him! It’s easy to say I’m a disciple of Christ, but a whole new ball game to live it. To obey and listen to God even when it hurts or costs you is to be more like Christ. Who obeyed more than Jesus? Who gave more than Jesus? Who sacrificed more than Jesus? Who loved more than Jesus?

The list goes on and on, but the point is that Jesus’s heart was to do the will of the Father in any and all areas! He didn’t pick and choose where He was gonna follow or obey but walked in complete reverence and obedience to His Heavenly Father! Guess what? If you belong to Christ, then He lives in you, and you too can walk in that loving obedience today! Will we get it right all the time? Nope! But we can do better each day and constantly be transformed more and more into the image of His Son!

If your enemy has been beating you, then beat him to the cross and find your victory in the Lord! He leads us to salvation, not to the slaughter! Thank You, Lord!

John 12:49-50 – “For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken. I know that His command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.”

God bless! I love you all! Glory, Honor, and Praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our Redeemer, and the Holy Spirit who will help us obey and follow the Lord’s commands daily!
