Romans 5 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Romans 5:1,2

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.

Thank You, Jesus! I Googled justification, and here are two of the definitions it gave me: (1) the act by which God moves a willing person from the state of sin (injustice) to the state of grace (justice), (2) the change in a person's condition moving from a state of sin to a state of righteousness.

Faith in Christ is the key to unlocking the freedom, peace, hope, and grace that God has made available to us through His Son! If, through faith, we now have peace with God, then what did we have beforehand? Wrath. If we aren't God's children, then we are still His enemies, but take heart because every disciple of Christ was at one time an enemy of the cross. Who else but our God delights and desires to free and redeem those in direct opposition to Him? How merciful and beautiful the heart of our God is!

Justified by faith means that through our faith, we have moved from death to life, from enemy to friend, from lost to found. This justification through faith in Christ is so beautiful and big because it's not of human origin or subject to human rules. Our God named the price, saw the price, and paid the price for each one of us, whether we accept it or not!

I just want to encourage you today that you are not too far gone, that His arm isn't too short, and that your sins aren't too great! He conquered sin and death that day on the cross, all the while knowing the depth of our depravity. He didn't do it because we were perfect or because we deserved it but to make us right with God and to give us a righteousness that lasts. Righteousness not born of works but of blood, His perfect blood!

Romans 5:9 - Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through Him!

God bless! I love you all, but He loved you before anyone ever knew there was a you! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our Glorious King, and the Holy Spirit!

Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Throughout my life, I have struggled with my self-worth and who I thought I was supposed to be. This verse speaks volumes to me about how much God loves us and how much we mean to Him! Our worth can’t be defined by earthly things because we are not citizens of this earth but citizens of Heaven! Bought and paid for by the precious Blood of the Lamb!

I was an enemy both of the Cross and myself until Jesus broke the chains, opened my eyes, and gave me a new heart filled with Him! And He did it not because of who I am, but who He is and how much He loves us. The Father wanted us to be reconciled to Him so much that He sent His only begotten Son to pay for our sins and to bring us salvation! I don’t know about you, but that statement takes me from worthless to priceless!

I like to say you can tell the value of something by the price someone is willing to pay for it, and Jesus paid the highest price known to man for us! So, to me, that means we are pretty valuable in His eyes! Jesus drank our cup of wrath so that we may drink His cup of mercy, grace, and forgiveness!!! So, next time this world or the enemy has you down or doubting who you are in Christ, remember Jesus said you are worth it, and He proved it on the Cross!!!

Papa, give us eyes to see ourselves the way You do and let us walk in humble confidence as sons and daughters of God Most High. Let our hearts be filled with your love, and our mouths be filled with your praises! In Jesus' name, Amen!

I love you all! God bless! Glory, Honor, and Praise to Papa God, King Jesus, and our Comforter the Holy Spirit!

Romans 5:10

For if, while we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!

A nugget of hope this morning! The last couple of days, this verse has been bouncing around in my head and my Spirit, and then yesterday in church, the Holy Spirit just hit me with truth, and let me tell you, it was beautiful! It went something like this: Christ didn’t die for His friends. He died for His enemies so they might become friends and children of God!

There is so much power and hope in that statement that it gave me goosebumps when I told my wife! Every person who has ever lived has, at one point, been an enemy of God because of sin in their lives. Not one of us was born righteous except for Jesus Christ, and that is why it’s only through faith in Him that we can be saved! The righteous for the unrighteous, the Son of God for the sons of sin, the perfect One for the tainted ones, and all because He loves us and wants us to spend eternity in His Presence!

Jesus Christ’s surrender and sacrifice didn’t buy His freedom but ours! He is God in the flesh and didn’t need saving, but we did!

The last couple of days have been a little heavier than most, and this morning in prayer, I felt the Holy Spirit come upon me and fill me with hope! I felt like He was saying this morning that it’s gonna be okay because I am in Him, and He is in me! I feel like He wants me to end with that thought, that this morning He is saying to you, “It’s gonna be okay. Lean into me as I lift you up and fill you with my Hope!”

Romans 15:13 - May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

God bless! I love you all! All Glory, Honor, and Praise till the end of time and then some to our God, His Son, and His Holy Spirit!
