2 Corinthians 4:6 Devotion by Stephen Taylor

2 Corinthians 4:6

For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ.

Yesterday morning, I was praying, and as I pray and am prompted, I move into different positions. One such position had me facing away from the window, thus shielding me from the sunlight. When I turned back around, I thought to myself, “Wow, I didn’t remember the sun being that bright,” and then the Holy Spirit hit me with something along the lines of, “Sometimes in life, it takes the darker times to remind us just how bright and beautiful the light is and truly appreciate and enjoy it!”

How often do we do this in our walk with Christ? When things are going well for long periods of time, we run the risk of growing complacent or ungrateful. We can take Him and Who He is for granted, and it’s not until something doesn’t go our way that we turn and realize and remember how bright and beautiful He is! I’m not saying that God causes these dark times and tragedies in our lives, but He will allow and use them to get our attention and draw us back to Himself!

We honestly can’t fathom the love He has for us, and I can prove it. His perfect love was portrayed and displayed on the cross, in His murdered Son for you and I! None of us can say we have sacrificed our child for our enemies, but guess what? Our God can, and He did it with you and me in mind! If we don’t receive the free gift, then we are left with the consequences of our sin, and trust me, we don’t want that! Accept Him today and watch Him illuminate your lives!

1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 - For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him.

God bless! I love you all! Glory, Honor, and Praise forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ the Messiah, and His Holy Spirit!
