Isaiah 40 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Isaiah 40:10,11

See, the Sovereign LORD comes with power, and He rules with a mighty arm. See, His reward is with Him, and His recompense accompanies Him. He tends His flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart; He gently leads those that have young.

The beauty and power of our God are unmatched and unrivaled in all the universe! These verses are amazing to me. They speak of the magnitude, strength, and power of our God. How mighty and faithful He is. It speaks to our hearts that He is more than enough to save, protect, and provide for us. Then it goes on to speak of His great love, compassion, kindness, and gentleness. It speaks to that deep need in us to be loved, accepted, and cared for. This God of ours is both mighty and powerful, loving and kind. We can’t truly fathom the entirety of all that He is! How blessed we are to be called by His name and covered by His Son’s blood.

These verses remind us that we can’t separate God’s character. We must remember that God is both holy and love. That He isn’t a God who changes, nor is He one who changes His mind about a thing. Things like sin and salvation. If He has called it sin, then my friends, it is sin, but if He has called you saved, then my friends, you are saved! Too often, we as people try to separate the God of justice from the God of peace, and we just can’t do that. God is not impartial or unfair, nor is He looking for an excuse to cast you and me out. He is the unmovable and unshakable Rock!

So today, let’s remember that the God who will someday pour out His wrath is the same one who poured out His blood that we may escape that coming wrath! He is just, He is faithful, He is coming, and we can be saved! He wants to carry you through this life into the next; will you let Him?

Isaiah 46:3,4- “Listen to me, you descendants of Jacob, all the remnant of the people of Israel, you whom I have upheld since your birth, and have carried since you were born. Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”

God bless! I love you all, but His love will carry you to the finish line! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!

 Isaiah 40:26

Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.

Sometimes, I have trouble remembering someone’s name 5 minutes after I meet them, but our God knows every star's name and place! I don’t know how many times I have read this verse, but this morning, it just blew me away how big of a task that would be! But not for God. It’s no big task for Him! He created them, He named them, and He placed them where He wants them!

Much like the stars, He created us, He named us, and He placed us where He wanted us to give Him glory and share His love and Word with those around us!!! The Holy Spirit brought this point to mind: if our God will do that for a star, then how much more will He do for His people! How much more precious are we than the stars above! Jesus wasn’t crucified and resurrected to reconcile the stars to the Father or save the heavens above from their sins but to redeem and reconcile His lost and wayward children (that’s us)!

Take heart that the God who created everything you see has created you and has a purpose in His Kingdom that no one can take from you! If you repent and surrender to Christ, then every debt will be paid, your seat will be at His table, your name in His book, and life be made new! He knew us before there was us because He is Jesus!

Jeremiah 1:5 - “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."

God bless! I love you all!!! Glory, Honor, and Praise forever to God Almighty, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit!

Isaiah 40:31

Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

There are a lot of great promises there, but the one that spoke to me today was the reference to the eagle. About half way through an eagle’s lifetime, it has to make a decision whether it wants to go through a tough and painful process or die. Like the eagle, I was faced with the same decision: to either just lay around in my own comfortable mess or choose Jesus and start changing!! Thankfully, I chose Jesus, and He has given me new life!!!

The eagle is also the only bird that will fly into a storm. Most birds will flee and hide, but God built the eagle to thrive in a storm! The same can be said for us once we trust in Jesus and give Him control!! Like the eagle, we won’t just survive the storm but thrive in it!!

Let’s keep the momentum from our eagles’ wings going and continue to worship our risen King!!!

Psalm 118:1: Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

I love you all and God bless you!!! Glory to God now and forever!!!
