1 Corinthians 1 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

1 Corinthians 1:26-29

Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world's eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.

You’re small, you're weak, you're insignificant, you have no influence, you are not significant by the world's standards. Well, you're in luck! God is looking for those of us who are less-than by today's standards to serve in the greatest Kingdom ever created! The God who is more than enough is looking for people who have never been enough to do things that will have eternal consequences. Thank You, Lord!

Because I have been all those things before God called me to be His own, Christ set me free, and the Holy Spirit filled me up! By the world's standards, I'm still a nobody, but by God's standards, I'm a somebody. I'm His redeemed child, and that is the best label I have ever had! Does this mean that God won't use powerful people also? Absolutely not; God can and will use anyone to accomplish His will. But what this does is give us "little guys" hope so that we, too, can be used in the Kingdom of God! Whether we are powerful or pitiful, we must all be surrendered sinners before we can become saved saints! The ground is level at the foot of the cross; Jesus made sure of that!

1 Corinthians 1:30- God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit, God made Him be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; He made us pure and holy, and He freed us from sin. Therefore, as the Scriptures say, "If you want to boast, boast only about the LORD."

God bless! I love you all, but He loves you purely! Praise, glory, and honor now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
