Ecclesiastes 12:11 Scripture Meditation by Stephen Taylor

Ecclesiastes 12:11

“The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails--given by one Shepherd.”

Do you see the theme in this verse? It’s Jesus!!!!!! Jesus asks Saul on the road to Damascus why he was kicking against the goads.

There was never a more important nail than the ones that were embedded into our Saviors hands and feet, and He is our Shepherd! No one has more wisdom than Jesus, and His words still spur people on and change lives today!!!

I looked it up yesterday and found that a goad is basically a stick with a point on the end to spur on stubborn oxen. How relevant this is to me!! How often do I find myself trying to resist or do it my way, and then I open the Bible and the Word pokes or pushes me out of my comfort zone and right into His arms!

The Holy Spirit showed me this, so I figure I should share, starting from the end of the verse and working backward: because of the Shepherd’s great love for us displayed on the Cross and the wise words spoken out of truth and love, we can be encouraged and spurred on to a life of righteousness in Him! We can’t rest on yesterday’s accomplishments to achieve today’s victory! We must spend time daily with the Lord and continue to thirst for His presence!

I encourage you today to find a quiet place and just meditate on the Word and let it show you the Heart of Christ today!!! Keep running your race in His grace!

Philippians 3:13-14: Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

God bless! I love you all! God bless and Glory, Honor, and Praise forever to God Almighty, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit!
