Isaiah 12 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Isaiah 12:1-3

In that day you will say: “I will praise you, LORD. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me. Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD Himself, is my strength and my defense; He has become my salvation.” With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.

It’s all about Jesus! I love how the entire Bible points to Christ and His redemptive work. He is the well we draw from, the source of our salvation. He is our strength and our defense, our fortress and our Rock. He is the One who will drive out our fears as we trust Him in faith. He is the One who brought us peace with God through His blood spilled on the cross! He is the One who turned God’s anger toward us into comfort for us! He is the Risen King, the Lion and the Lamb, the Holy One of God! He is all this and so much more!

Imagine how excited Isaiah must have been getting this revelation from God. Knowing that the coming Messiah would be this beautiful, powerful, and available to us! How these words must have encouraged Isaiah, and they should do the same for us. For the prophets and people of God longed for these truths to be fulfilled and looked with joy and hope toward the time of the coming Messiah. What they longed for we take for granted sometimes. We are so blessed to live in the age of grace, the age of Christ and His Spirit dwelling inside of us. We are so blessed to have His Bible, His written Word that changes, molds, and shapes the hearts and minds of those who read and obey what it says. How blessed we are to not have to go to the Temple to worship and be near our God but can live a lifestyle of worship and nearness to Him every day!

We have been given so much; what are we doing with it? Today, let’s remember and rejoice that we live in the day that many longed for, and because of Christ, we can live and reign with Him forever!

2 Timothy 2:11-13- Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with Him, we will also live with Him; if we endure, we will also reign with Him. If we disown Him, He will also disown us; if we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot disown Himself.

God bless! I love you all, but my love is a mere shadow of the Son’s! Praise, glory, and honor forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!

Isaiah 12:3

“With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.”

Jesus is the well of salvation that we can joyfully draw from if we surrender to Him! I love this verse, and it instantly took me to the lady at the well in John chapter 4! When that Samaritan woman came to the well to draw physical water, she had no idea she was going to draw Living Water from the Messiah! She came to the well broken, disgraced, shamed, sad, lonely, and I’m sure in a ton of pain. You can tell by her answers she has been hurt and cast out by many and doesn’t want to be bothered.

But Jesus breaks down her walls with His persistent loving inquiries, smashing social norms and treating her like a person, like a Child of God, not some outcast or degenerate! I’m sure this was both confusing and humbling at the same time! I’m sure she was waiting for the punch line or for the hammer to drop, but all that dropped were the walls of pain and hurt she had built over the years! She went to the well an outcast and left the well a Child of God! The joy, love and acceptance she must have felt had to be overwhelming because she left her bucket and ran into to town to tell the very people that shunned her and she hid from!

We can either draw water from this world or from the eternal spring of life that is Jesus Christ! He is waiting at the well today. Will you draw from Him?

John 4:13-14: Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

God bless! I love you all! Glory, Honor, and Praise forever to God Almighty, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, and the Spirit of Truth the Holy Spirit!
