Pastoral Leadership and Church Growth Training

Scope of the Training: In this course, you will gain the knowledge you need to lead a church as a head pastor or church planter.

1. Watch the following videos. While they do focus on leading a House Church, we'll be applying them in the traditional church setting as well. Action: Take notes or leave a 100-word comment on what stands out to you in each video. There are also separate written assignments following the videos.

Action: Discuss the problem of consumerism in the Church. How can you combat consumerism in your setting?

Action: Draft a 150-word minimum plan for raising up and mentoring new leaders in your church.

Action: Discuss the qualifications for a church leader. If someone qualifies as a leader but doesn't have certain gifts or talents, how can you work with them as a leader?

Action: Reflect on what elements in your current or former church were commands vs. traditions. Draft a plan for distinguishing between the two in your ministry.

Action: As a church leader, how will you keep your focus on loving God rather than growing your church?

Action: Discuss how you can keep the ministry you lead focused on Christ and the Body rather than on you.

Action: Draft a 150-word minimum plan for building genuine Christian community in your church.

Action: Describe your geographic, demographic, economic and cultural setting and discuss the pros and cons of meeting in homes, a church building, or a public space for your setting.
