Romans 6:14 Scripture Meditation by Stephen Taylor

Romans 6:14

“For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.”

This verse is so powerful and yet can be extremely difficult for me to walk out sometimes! Too often, I find myself running from grace and running back to the law. As I was praying this morning, the Holy Spirit showed me what this looks like in my life.

In old gangster movies, they would tie a cinder block around someone’s foot and throw them in a lake. Well, that’s me, and the cinder block is my shame, guilt, condemnation, and sin. Then, Jesus comes and sets me free, but as soon as I get back in the boat, I tie another block to my feet and jump back in the lake! That’s the visual the Holy Spirit gave me this morning! Wow, what an eye-opening experience with Him to say the least!

The Lord didn’t call us out of bondage to put us right back in it! Too often, I consider this sin worse than that sin and thus think that I should feel worse about it or that my shame and guilt are appropriate, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth!

Yes, there are different consequences for sin, but Jesus died once for EVERY SIN. Grace is given to us, not because we deserve it or we earned it but because Jesus bought it for us with His blood poured out freely on the Cross and His resurrection! Grace is free when you surrender your life to Christ! Let’s not abuse grace but use grace to walk in freedom hand-in-hand with Christ and show others the way home!!!!

Nehemiah 9:33: In all that has happened to us, you have remained righteous; you have acted faithfully, while we acted wickedly.

Grace isn’t a new thing for the Lord; the Bible is full of it! I love you all, God bless, and Glory, Honor, and Praise to Papa God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit!
