1 Thessalonians 5:17 Scripture Meditation by Stephen Taylor

1 Thessalonians 5:17

Pray continually.

This two-word verse speaks volumes to me. Prayer, like reading Scripture, is a daily part of my life. I go to God with my fears, my pride, my concerns and desires, and also to repent. But It’s also a place where I get to praise and worship Him as well! I get to tell Him how thankful I am and how wonderful He is! God doesn’t need the ego boost or to be reassured that “ He is the man!” It’s not about that. It’s about showing our love to Him and letting Him know how much we appreciate and need Him daily!

God doesn’t need our prayers, but we do! When we pray, it shows our love and need for Him, but it also draws us closer to Him! I read in a book once that when I pray, I should be specific, as in not just saying, “Thank You, God, for everything” but to itemize things and individually give thanks – and the same way for repenting. Since I have done that, my walk with God has grown deeper and closer than I ever thought possible, and I would encourage you to try it!

When the world is throwing their hands up in the air, we should be throwing our knees down on the ground because we know that’s the real way to peace, love, and stability!

I love you all! God bless you and yours!! Glory to God!!
