Galatians 5 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Galatians 5:14-15

The entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “ love your neighbor as yourself.” If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

And  Galatians 6:2: “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

With everything that is going on right now in this nation and coronavirus in the world, I believe this is even more prevalent to adhere to! If we aren’t here to show the love of Christ to those around us, who will? I’m so thankful to have family and friends around me, but what about the people who don’t? The people who wish they had a kid to annoy them by asking a thousand questions or a spouse to drive them nuts clicking through the channels? LOL! Let’s not forget those people out there who might just need to get a few things off their chest? And remember that we might be the only Bible someone reads!

I know I personally struggle with this sometimes and need to be more open and more giving of my time. We can obey the six-foot rule and still love people through the phone or over text!

In case no one has told you today, I love you and so does Christ! Who is the Church????? We are!!!! Let’s show the world that our love isn’t growing cold!

God bless you all, and praise the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!!!

Galatians 5:17

For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.

There is a battle raging in each one of us, whether we want to admit it or not. The battle lines have been drawn, and the war is under way. The thing about war is that supply lines are crucial. The army that eats is usually the army that wins. So, I have to ask, what side are you feeding? The flesh or the Spirit?

I believe that every decision we make feeds one or the other. Everything from the little choices to the most life-changing decision is either food for the Spirit or the flesh. I have often fed my flesh more than my Spirit and then found myself in times of testing or trouble, crying out to God, like, “Why!? Why am I weak in the Spirit? Why am I fighting a losing battle? Why is my flesh winning?”

The answer is simple; I was feeding the flesh more. Choice by choice, little by little, I was choking out the Spirit and gratifying, glorifying, and gorging the flesh! That ends today. Today I will make a conscious effort to feed the Spirit more than the flesh. Why continue to feed something that is going to die? Why not feed the eternal over the fading? Why pick a losing side when I belong to the Winning one?

A lot of questions today, and the answer is simple: more of Him and less of me!!! That’s the winning formula to this war and the only way we can triumph in times of trouble, testing, and turmoil! The Spirit and the flesh are not friends but foes, and in every war, there is a winner and a loser.

What you choose, you will feed, what you feed will grow, and what grows in you, you will serve!!! Choose wisely!!!

Be encouraged and be encouraging!!! I love you all, God bless, and glory to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit!!!

Galatians 5:25

Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

We can't be running ahead of Him, and we can't be dragging our feet behind Him but walking step for step in Him and with Him! At first, this may seem like a heavy task or a burden to bear, but if we look at the verse prior to this one, we get an insight into how to walk in Him:

Galatians 5:24- Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Our old self and old way of living have to die, and we must become new creations in Christ. Then walking in step with the Spirit becomes less of a burden and more of a blessing! The Spirit and the flesh are in direct opposition to each other, so if we're trying to walk in the Spirit but living in the flesh, it's gonna be much harder and maybe even downright impossible at times. But if we put the flesh, our old selves, to death and become new creations in Christ, then walking in the Spirit comes more naturally because it's no longer us who live but Christ who lives in us!

We're born fallen and fleshy, but we don't have to die that way. Christ has and is giving us the opportunity to live in Him and die to self today. The question isn't if this is true but rather if we will truly believe and pick up those nails and do what needs to be done!

2 Corinthians 5:17- Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

(NLT) Galatians 6:14,15- As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world's interest in me has also died. It doesn't matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation.

God bless! I love you all, but He loves you completely! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit who we can walk in today!
