Isaiah 16:5
In love a throne will be established; in faithfulness a man will sit on it- one from the house of David- one who in judging seeks justice and speeds the cause of righteousness.
This verse tells us of so many of Jesus’ traits: love, faithfulness, justice, righteousness, and mercy! And I have never thought of the cross as a throne, but that’s exactly what Isaiah is saying here. Because that’s exactly what Jesus did in love and faithfulness; He willingly went to the cross for all of us, and on the cross, His kingdom was established!!
A few chapters earlier, God said, “Come, let us settle the matter,” and then in John 19:30, Jesus says “It is finished”! It’s as if He was saying, “Not up for discussion. It is settled. Their debt is paid, and they are Mine!!!”
Jesus’ kingdom was built in love, and to be citizens of that kingdom, we to must love as He loves!!!
