Isaiah 58:6
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?”
Yet another great trait of my God! Verses 1-5 are all about how they are fasting with wrong motives and with wrong intentions; their hearts were in the wrong place! This is another one of those things where we do it in obedience to God, but we are the ones it truly benefits! God doesn’t have any chains of injustice on Him He needs to break. He isn’t the oppressed one that needs to be freed, but we do!
I love how the things I view sometimes as “chores” are really in place to bless me and draw me closer to God! It’s all throughout the Bible; we praise and worship Him, but we’re the ones who get filled up! We give Him 10% and He blesses us beyond measure! We fast and seek Him, and He breaks our chains and sets us free! We accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and we get His salvation!! We serve others, yet we’re the ones who get refreshed!!! So, let’s get to that “chore list” more often and watch Him work!!!
