Luke 12 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Luke 12:6,7

“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

Today let’s glorify our God and give thanks for Who He is! Let us never forget that we are counted by God and never forgotten. Regardless of the season or the situation, our God is still there! He is not a human that He would forget His children; He is not so busy that He doesn’t have time for us but rather has a love for us that stretches from the cross to the grave and beyond! Thank You, Jesus!

His perfect love was displayed in the crucified and resurrected Christ, not just a man but the Son of Man! The Son of God, who bore the weight of the world's sins that we may be reconciled to the Father. Filling us with His Spirit and one day taking us eternally into His Presence forevermore!

God sees us today. He sees our struggles and our victories. He sees our fear and our faith. He sees our heart and wants every part of it to be His. Every beat of our chest and breath in our lungs should be screaming out, “Jesus is Lord,” to the glory of God!

How sad it would be to serve a god who could not see. A god who, like man, was flawed and limited. My friends, that would be no god at all but just another fallen idol that would disappoint and bring destruction. But thankfully, there is a God in Heaven that both sees and saves! He isn’t limited, nor is He flawed, but He is perfect and has you and me in His sights. Will we respond?

Hebrews 4:13- Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

Proverbs 15:3- The LORD is watching everywhere, keeping His eye on both the evil and the good.

God bless! I love you all, but His love is seeing, searching, and saving the lost! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!

Luke 12:7

“Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

Those are Jesus’s words, and normally, I think, “Wow, that’s cool – God knows how many hairs I have” (which is cool), but today, what stuck out was that God cares to know them!! That He loves me enough to care about a pretty unimportant thing on my body, and if He cares about the small, insignificant things, then how much more the big things!!

God cares about our hurts, our pains, our struggles, and fears!! The problem isn’t that He doesn’t care; the problem is I don’t take them to Him first!!

During this time of uncertainty in our nation, let’s go to God our Father first and share with Him all of our lives!! He already knows our deepest secrets and loves us anyway!!!!  In Jeremiah, He says He knew Jeremiah before he was in his mother’s womb!!! That’s the God I serve, the God who has seen me at my worst and still loves and forgives me!!!!I

love you all, and God bless!! Glory to God forever!!!!

Luke 12:25,26

“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?”

Do we have an answer to Jesus’s question? Adding an hour to one’s life is but a small thing to Christ, and yet it is impossible for us. Do we see the contrast Christ is trying to make? How great and powerful He is and how much we’re not. How He is in control, and we only have a false sense of control. He does this not to discourage us but to encourage us in Him!

The answer to His question lies in the words that He used. He says that what is impossible for us is but a small thing for Him, so we must keep our eyes on Him if we want to overcome the worries of this life. He is basically saying, “Do not worry, because the God you serve is greater than all your fears, worries, and doubts.” Our God is more powerful than the things we face, more powerful than the things that want to destroy us, and even more powerful than we can imagine or fathom.

We begin to worry when we take our eyes off of that truth. When we start to look at the problem or situation instead of our God. We fret and worry about this bill or that job, all the while forgetting we have a God that the grave couldn’t hold. We forget that the same God who said it’s a small thing to add an hour to one’s life is the same God who promised to provide, protect and be with us all the days of our lives.

Worry is becoming more common among man because faith and truth are less acknowledged, remembered, reflected upon, and held fast to. If we want to overcome worry, we must come to the cross. Christ tells us not to worry because He is in control. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is eternal, He is powerful, and He is telling you and me not to worry today. Will we listen? It’s not easy, but it is necessary, and it is possible in Him!

Luke 12:29- “And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it.”

Colossians 3:1- Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

God bless! I love you all, but His love drives out the worry in our lives! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
