Philippians 3 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Philippians 3:12

not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

After I fall, how do I respond? I have fallen so many times throughout my life, you would think I lived on the ground! Until about 2 years ago, I thought it was okay to just stay there and wait for something to come along to make me feel better or pick me up. But as I grow in God, I learn that Jesus was there the whole time, with His hand out willing to help me up. All I had to do was ask!

I’m not expected to run a perfect race, but I am expected to run it as hard as I can! I have to remember that bumps in the road don’t have to be the end of the road. It’s what I do with the bumps that makes the difference!

God was speaking this to me earlier: He said, “Yesterday’s mistakes can be today’s victories!!” Thank You, Jesus!! There is always going to be failure, but there can be so much wisdom and growth from it if I’m looking in the right direction!! If I’m not looking up, I’m gonna fall down!!!

Don’t be afraid to admit your faults and weaknesses to our God!! He already knows and wants to help; He is just waiting on you to ask!!

I love you all, God bless, and Glory to God!!!!!!

Philippians 3:13,14

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Are we stuck in our past mistakes, or focused on the future with Him? Paul had many reasons to stay stuck in who he used to be. I imagine the guilt and shame the enemy poured upon him was unbearable at times, reminding Paul of the people he had imprisoned and even those who were murdered because of their faith. Yet Paul says, “I do not focus on who I used to be or what I used to do, but rather I focus upon Christ and the prize He laid up for me in Heaven, eternal life with Him!”

How gracious and merciful our God is to not only forgive our sins but to give us a promised future and a hope for eternity in Him. He not only washes away our past but, at the same time, gives us a blessed hope for the future. Our God is amazing, isn’t He? So, we, like Paul, must make the choice. Each day, we choose who or what we are going to focus on, and what we focus on, we will follow. Yes, the things I have done in my life are grievous and disgusting, but Christ has paid for my soul. The sins that used to own me no longer have that right, for I was bought at a price, a very high price, and my life is not my own. And though I still struggle at times and there are still sins lurking inside me, I no longer belong to them, but now I belong to the King!

How I rejoice in the God who paid for me, the God who set me free and calls me His own. My God, this God will do the same for you today. He can take a lifetime of bad choices and turn them around for His glory. Our lives will not be easy, nor free from hurt and pain, but they will be free from the eternal consequence of our sin, separation from God for all time. No longer does that have to be our penalty, but instead, we can set our hearts and minds on the eternity He promised and that His Son paid for us to have.

1 Timothy 6:12- Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

John 1:29- The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

God bless! I love you all, but His love bore our sins and paid for our souls! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
