Psalm 103 Devotional Thoughts by Stephen Taylor

Psalm 103:1-5

Of David. Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all His benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

What a mighty God we serve! These verses speak of Who He is and How He loves us! They remind us that He is our Reconciler, our Healer, our Redeemer, our Provider, our Satisfier, and our Renewer! David encourages us to never forget these truths, to hold fast to them, and praise our God for all that He is!

David knows that as we walk this path, we will face many different challenges, temptations, attacks, and situations, but that the same God can and will see us through them all. Regardless of what we face, our God is greater than all! You need a redeemer? Our God is the greatest one. Are you weary and in desperate need of renewal? Our God can restore your strength and hope in an instant. Are you tired of the world and being left dissatisfied? Don’t worry; our God is true satisfaction and is always more than enough. Each situation is different, but the answer always remains the same, God Almighty and no one else!

What attribute or characteristic of our God are you leaning into today? Which one is speaking straight to your heart, whispering, “It’s okay, child; I have you and will never let you go!” Remember, our God is all these things and so much more. He doesn’t change like shifting shadows, and Who He is never goes against what His Word says. His character is unchanging, His love unwavering, and His mercy unending! He desires for us to know this and know Him; will we rest and rejoice in Him today?

Psalm 103:7-12- He made known His ways to Moses, His deeds to the people of Israel: The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will He harbor His anger forever; He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

God bless! I love you all, but His love is perfect and powerful! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!

Psalm 103:2-5

Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.

This passage speaks to me about how God goes above and beyond for us. Look at the “but wait there’s more” going on here. He not only forgives your sins but will heal your diseases. He not only will pull you out of the pits of your hell but will cover you with His love and compassion! As if it wasn’t good enough for Him just to save our souls; He wants to make sure we feel loved and complete along the way! He does this so we can show that same love and compassion on those around us!

A practical example from my life is that God rescued me from my addiction, but He didn’t stop there. He accepted me into His family and has given me great brothers and sisters in Christ. He has given me peace and love, and He even went as far as using me to encourage and love on those around me!! What a great God we serve!!!!

Last night, my son came over. We don’t have the best relationship because of the choices in my life. But we had a good night. About an hour after he left, my brother texted me and said, “Your son wanted me to tell you he loves you and is coming back tomorrow to spend the night!!” That is like the spiritual cherry on top of this life God is building for me, and He will do it for you too!!

Just give Him a chance and invite Him in and watch Him work!! He doesn’t just want to save you; He wants to spoil you with His good things!!!

I love you all, God bless, and thank You, Father God, and to You be all the glory!!!!

Psalm 103:10-12

He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

Yesterday, I was standing in the Gulf watching the sunset and enjoying the beautiful scenery. The way the sun reflected off the water was beautiful, and the entire thing looked like something out of a movie. Then something struck me, that as beautiful as I thought that was, God sees me as way more beautiful. Even before I knew Him or His Son, He thought me beautiful. When all I saw was shame, guilt, and sin, He saw someone worth sending His Son for. It was such a beautiful reminder of how much God loves us in our mess. We were all dead in our sins until Jesus rescued us, and now, we live because of Him.

God never fails to show up, regardless of what we do. Never forget that you are worth it and that He paid the price before you ever even acknowledged Him!!! We all sin and fall short, but that doesn’t define us. What defines us is the One in us. If you fall, don’t stay there. Get back up dust, yourself off, and turn back to God!!! The enemy will try to keep you there, but because of Christ, that’s not where you live anymore!!!

Be encouraged and encouraging!!! I love you all, God bless, and glory to God!!!

Psalm 103:10-14

He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.

That just speaks to me, because God knows we are going to fail, and yet He still forgives us because of His Son’s precious sacrifice for all mankind!!!

As far as the east is from the west. I’m not a geographical genius, but I don’t believe those two points will ever meet each other!!! What a relief it is to know that because of Jesus Christ, we don’t have to fear or be ashamed!!!! It’s the exact opposite; it’s agape love, compassion and forgiveness!!!!

Someone once told me that grace is getting something we don’t deserve and didn’t earn, and mercy is not getting what we do deserve and did earn!

I love you all! God bless! Give glory to God always!!!!!
