Psalm 46 Devotional Thoughts by Stephen Taylor

Psalm 46:1-3

For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. According to alamoth. A song. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

Though the world may crumble around us our God never will! He is faithful and everlasting, our constant help and support in times of hardship, turmoil and pain. He never leaves us nor forsakes us. He never deserts in our desperate times but rather draws us even closer when we seek Him with all that we are.

These verses speak of two truths: one being that this earth is tumultuous, fading, and chaotic and the other being that God is our hope, strength, deliverer, and protector. It does not say that the things we face in life are not serious or scary but that our God is with us, and we shall not fear! Not because of us but because of Him! For if God is for us, then who can be against us? Let that truth sink in; the Creator, Redeemer, and Conquer of the grave stands at the ready to deliver and protect you and me! What a beautiful and powerful truth we can hold onto in these days of confusion and upheaval.

The times we live in do not change the God we serve. He is still on the throne, and nothing escapes His gaze. Hold fast to the faith He has given you and the hope He has promised you in Jesus Christ. For as the day of redemption draws nearer, so the attacks of the defeated foe will grow clearer. Evil is not as hidden as it used to be, but rather it is more out in the open, making its final desperate plea for your soul. Do not give in and fall victim to these lies but hold fast to the written and Living Word of God!

Psalm 118:5-7- When hard pressed, I cried to the LORD; He brought me into a spacious place. The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? The LORD is with me; He is my helper. I look in triumph on my enemies.

Psalm 56:4- In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?

Romans 8:31- What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

God bless! I love you all, but His love is the only way! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!

Psalm 46:10

“Be still and know that I am God.”

About a week ago, I was mowing the grass, and after making a pass with the mower, I looked down and there was a frog lying right where I had just mowed, perfectly unhurt!

As I was mowing yesterday, God brought it back to my attention and I wondered how many times I had been just like that frog. How many times had God protected me from certain death or destruction that I had no clue about! How at the time of my darkest hours I wondered why He wasn’t moving for me! When really, to move would mean certain death! The safest place for that frog in that moment was right in the middle of that mess! I’m sure his natural instinct was to hop or fight against what was happening, but that, my friends, would not have ended well for him.

We aren’t any different. When we get into tough times, we want to control an uncontrollable situation, and it will never work out well for us! See, that frog had one option to survive, and that was be still and let me push the “storm” past him! Sometimes, being still isn’t a bad thing; it’s actually the only thing keeping us alive! Just because we don’t feel God moving us doesn’t mean He isn’t pushing the storm past us!

I love you all, God bless, and Glory to God!!!

Psalm 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God”

Here lately God has been dealing with me on how much I trust Him. I say, “His will, not mine, be done,” but do I stick to it? I relate it like going on a road trip with God. At first, I throw Him the keys and jump in the back seat and enjoy the ride!

But then we hit a little traffic and I jump up front just to keep Him company. While I’m up there, I tell Him to turn because I have been driving these roads for years and know a short cut! Eventually, we stop for gas and I tell God that I feel bad He is doing all the driving and so I will go ahead and take over and give Him a break! Next thing you know, I’m stopping to pick a couple people up and ask God if He wouldn’t mind jumping in the back to make room! Before I know it, I’m broken down on the wrong side of town wondering how I got there and asking God to fix it!!

I say this because now that I know this, I can fight against the urge to take the keys and know that He’s got this!! I mean, I trust Him with my salvation, but I don’t trust Him with the journey there?? If God can raise Jesus from the dead, then He can manage my life while I’m alive!!! I have to trust Him both with the vessel and the treasure inside it!! Be encouraged and let Him drive!!!

I love you all, God bless, and Glory to God!!!!
