Luke 16 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Luke 16:9

“Here’s the lesson: Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends. Then, when your possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home.”

What are we doing with what God has given us? Who or what are we serving with the resources He has blessed us with? God has given us resources in this life not to horde and make our lives easier and better than others, but that we may share it with those around us, and in doing this, we will not only glorify His Name, but we can plant a seed in the process.

What we spend our money on can reveal where our heart is and who it belongs to. If our heart belongs to the Lord, our wallet will also! We have to use our worldly wealth to win souls for the Kingdom! What greater investment is there than in someone’s eternity? Let us not be concerned with how much we have but with how much we can give from our hearts for His glory!

Too often, I think we can fall into the trap of, “Well, I only have this amount, and that isn’t going to help anyone.” So we sit on our hands and do nothing. But if we would be like the little boy with the fish and the loaves and bring it to Jesus, He could feed a multitude. God doesn’t need our money, but He does want to see what we will do with everything He has so graciously given us. So today, will we use our worldly provisions for a Heavenly calling and eternal reward? Or will we use them to serve ourselves and fall short of the blessing He has for those who give Him their all?!

Luke 14:33- “In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.”

God bless! I love you all, but His love paid it all! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!

Luke 16:10

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.”

Jesus says there are only two choices – trustworthy or dishonest; which one are you???

Lately, I have found myself reflecting on the saying, “Don’t sweat the small things” and just how backward it is. Let me start by saying, I’m not saying to worry, but what I am saying is the little things matter.

As I was reading and praying this morning, God brought to mind Judas, who betrayed Jesus. Judas didn’t go from fully devoted to Jesus to betraying Him over night. I mean, yes, it did happen one night, but the breadcrumbs leading up to it are evident. It says that Judas used to help himself to their ministry’s money. So, little by little, Judas allowed the enemy to get that foothold, and then, it was too late. With each little decision to take that money and feed that greed, Judas came one step closer to betraying Jesus.

I’m sure when Judas started out, he had no plans of doing this, but little compromises lead to big disasters. I have watched it play out in my life. It can start out as just flirting or being playful, but if I’m not careful, it can turn into full-blown lust and sin. Or it can start out as playfully joking, but then you go too far ,and someone’s feelings get hurt. My point is, if we catch it early, we can handle it better. If you were gonna fight a bear, would you rather fight it as a cub or wait for it to grow up and get stronger??? It’s usually not the big things that take me off my path but rather the small things I didn’t see coming!!!

Be encouraged and be encouraging!!! I love you all, God bless, and glory to God!!!
