Revelation 3:20 Scripture Meditation by Stephen Taylor

Revelation 3:20

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”

If you have not answered that door yet, do it. It’s the single most important house-call ever and one you don’t want to miss out on. But what has been on my heart today is the question, what do we do once we invite Him in??? Do we treat Him as a guest or as family??? There is a huge difference, so let me explain.

If you have guests over, they typically don’t get the real you. They don’t get to see the piles of laundry, the dirty dishes that were piling up 20 minutes before they got there, the spare room with all the toys shoved in it. Little Johnny has a suit and tie on instead of his muddy jeans and grass-stained shirt, you break out the fine China, and nobody puts ketchup on their steak at dinner – LOL!! Vice versa when family comes over; they have to navigate their way through the minefield of toys on their way to the kitchen to help do the dishes so we have stuff to eat off of. There is no fine China and after dinner they stick around to help you fold laundry because they know you gotta be up at 5 and can’t go to bed till it’s done.

This may be a little extreme, but my point is clear. Jesus doesn’t want to be a guest in your heart. He wants to be family!!! He wants to come in and see the real you and help you clean it up!!! He doesn’t want or need fake individuals who pretend they have it all together but rather flawed sinners in need of a Savior!!! We’re only fooling ourselves if we think He doesn’t already know what we’re really like, and the best news is He loves us anyway and in every way!!! Will you let Him see the real you today???

Be encouraged and be encouraging!!! I love you all, God bless, and glory to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit!!!
