2 Chronicles 6:18 Devotion by Stephen Taylor

2 Chronicles 6:18

“But will God really dwell on earth with humans? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!”

Nothing can contain our God! Yet throughout the Bible, He has contained Himself to be closer to us! What a mighty and merciful God we serve! In The Old Testament, He would contain Himself to the Ark of the Covenant, or the tent of meeting, sometimes a cloud by day and fire by night, all to be closer to His children. Then we have Jesus, in whom God came in the flesh to seek and save the lost! And then, if all that wasn’t enough, we disciples of Christ and redeemed children of God have His eternal Spirit living in these earthy tents!

How encouraging to look back through the Bible and see God’s deliberate efforts to be near His people. Our God doesn’t make us jump through hoops or complete many tasks to be His. All we have to do is humbly repent and follow Him! And if God has made such an effort to be near to us, shouldn’t we be making just as much of an effort to be near to Him? After all, He is God, and we are not, and we need Him. He doesn’t need us. Yet He made a way, through His Son, that we may be reconciled and spend all eternity with Him!

Other religions say you have to earn your way or make it yourself, but our God said, “Sit tight, I’m on My way.” Time and time again, He shows us His loving patience and willingness to go the extra mile to be near to us and lead us home! Thank You, Lord!

Genesis 3:8-9 - Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. But the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?”

Ever since the creation, God has been near His people, and maybe He is asking you today, “Where are you?”

God bless! I love you all! Glory, Honor, and Praise to Papa God, Jesus Christ the Risen King, and the Holy Spirit!
