Exodus 16 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Exodus 16:4

Then the LORD said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from Heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way, I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions.

As I was reading today and came across this verse, I felt the Holy Spirit say, “God doesn’t ask you to jump through hoops or do some big extravagant thing to show that you will love Him.” Simple obedience and trust are all that God calls for here. He doesn’t tell the Israelites to do anything other than trust Him to provide for them and to listen to what He says.

To me, this is huge because God doesn’t overload them or put too much on their plates. He says, “I will feed you, and I will bless you, and I will also use it to test you and your heart.” My question is this: what bread from Heaven is God wanting to rain down on you but is waiting to see if He can trust you with it? Am I asking for some financial relief but not trusting Him with the 10% that is His anyway? Am I asking Him to give me people to share the Gospel with but not spending daily quiet time alone with Him?

God’s storehouses are overflowing with more than enough blessings for everyone, but are we trustworthy when we revive them? This verse tells me that the blessings come from God, but we have to work and walk in them daily and trust Him completely!!!

Be ready, Be intentional, Be faithful, and TRUST in the Lord completely!!!!

I love you all, God bless, and Glory to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit!

Exodus 16:20

However, some of them paid no attention to Moses; they kept part of it until morning, but it was full of maggots and began to smell. So Moses was angry with them.

Exodus 16:24- So they saved it until morning, as Moses commanded, and it did not stink or get maggots in it.

Exodus 16:33- So Moses said to Aaron, “Take a jar and put an omer of manna in it. Then place it before the LORD to be kept for the generations to come.”

Science can’t explain it, and our human minds can’t rationalize it, but we know that our God is in control! We see that this manna isn’t subject to our human will but to His divine will. The manna that God brought down from Heaven was the same each day, yet only by God’s will did it last more than a day. In the first verse, it rots the next day. In the second verse, it lasts two days. The third verse says it’s gonna last for generations! We don’t know how but we know Who!

This is encouraging to me because there are situations in my life that I can’t explain or figure out how, but I trust that He can and He will, one way or another. The Israelites had to do two things in this manna experience. They had to have faith that God would provide it and obey Him on how much to collect. It wasn’t their job to preserve it or make it last, but just trust and believe the Lord! We are no different; God isn’t calling us to make it happen for Him but to trust and obey in Him fully! Thank You, Lord!

He desires to lift the burdens off of us, not bury us underneath more. Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy, but let’s stop that today. Today is a day the Lord has made, and He promises to provide everything we need if we seek Him with all our heart and obey His precious words! Let’s go gather our bread for the day and rest in Him!

Matthew 6:31-33- “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”

God bless! I love you all, but His love feeds our souls! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
