Genesis 48:11 Devotion by Stephen Taylor

Genesis 48:11

Israel said to Joseph, "I never expected to see your face again, and now God has allowed me to see your children too."

Do we put God in a box? Do we try to limit Him because of our own limits? Do we let our circumstances dictate to us Who He is? Israel probably never dreamed he would see his son again in this life and would have never thought grandchildren were an option. But God!

What if Israel would have believed logic over who the Lord is? When he was told his son was alive, he had two choices: he could have said, “That's impossible; my son is dead, and there is nothing that can change that.” Or he could say, “I serve the Living God, Creator of heaven and earth, and anything is possible through and with Him!” The first response breeds despair, sadness, and doubt, but the second one breeds faith, hope, and love!

What is God telling us to believe and trust Him with today? One of the other characteristics of our God that I love so much and is displayed in this verse is that when God restores something, He doesn’t just take it to our level of expectations but to His! He not only gave Israel his son back but added another whole generation! Jacob longed for his son back, and God gave him three instead! Our ceiling isn’t even close to God’s basement! Our best days outside of Him aren’t even close to our worst days living in His Light! I’m not saying that every day is easy or comfortable, but it is possible to make it through each day when He is with you!

When the Lord drew me to Himself, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I did not know that life could be this full and fulfilling. I live a life of abundance, not of worldly possessions or big bank accounts but of true riches in Jesus Christ! I asked the Lord to bless me with everything I thought I ever wanted, and He gave me the only thing I ever really needed, Himself, and because of Him, I have everything I need!

Jeremiah 30:17 – “‘But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,' declares the LORD, 'because you are called an outcast, Zion for whom no one cares.’”

He has given me health in Him that I never knew possible and healed wounds I never knew were there, and He is willing, waiting, and wanting to do the same for you! Surrender, repent and return to the only One who can reconcile you to the Father and fill you with His Hope!

God bless! I love you all! Glory, Honor, and Praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit!
