Job 38:41 Devotion by Stephen Taylor

Job 38:41

Who provides food for the raven when its young cry out to God and wander about for lack of food?

The answer is God alone! If God listens to and provides for the ravens, how much more for those of us who have been redeemed and reconciled to Himself through His Son!

As I was reading this morning, I love the word picture here in Job. Though God is sovereign and knows all, He still listens to the ravens and feeds their young! How compassionate and caring is our God? How mighty is His arm? How great is His faithfulness? His compassion never runs dry, His arm stretches for all time, and the vastness of His faithfulness couldn’t be contained in all the universe! Our God is not fickle or temperamental like us humans, but He is thoughtful and purposeful, even caring for the least of His creation!

God made it a point to tell us that He listens to birds. Why? Because if He cares for and listens to them, then you can rest assured He hears you too! He didn’t send His Son to die for the birds, but He did send Him for you and me! Take heart knowing you are not a mistake that needs fixing, but a child that needs their Father, and the only way home is through the Son! If the ravens have enough confidence to cry out to God for help, then shouldn’t we? The ravens aren’t crying out for bigger nests or fewer predators but just the food needed to survive. Maybe we could learn a thing or two from the ravens!

Luke 12:24 – “Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn, yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!”

God bless! I love you all! Glory, Honor, and Praise now and forever to Jehovah Jireh, Jesus Christ our Redeemer, and the Holy Spirit who fills us daily!
