Psalm 106:13-15 Devotion by Stephen Taylor

Psalm 106:13-15

But they soon forgot what He had done and did not wait for His plan to unfold. In the desert, they gave in to their craving; in the wilderness, they put God to the test. So He gave them what they asked for but sent a wasting disease among them.

In the deserts of this life, do not become impatient and forget the Lord, turning back to what He freed you from and craving things of this world over Him!

This verse speaks volumes to me about the patience, endurance, perseverance, faith, and trust it takes to walk this road with the Lord. Some of these things are given, some are developed, and some come only after you have walked with Him for a while, but the key is they are all found in Him. Outside of Him, we can do nothing. On our own, we are weak, frail, fickle, judgmental, lost, blind, and vulnerable. The strength that I have in my walk and my life are directly related to the time I spend with Him, how I listen to Him, and if I obey Him. The strength does not originate in me but rather comes from on High through my honest admittance of the weakness within.

God knows we are weak. He created us. Our weakness is why He sent Jesus to save us! If we could save ourselves, there would be no need for the Son of God to suffer and bear the sins of the world. But I can’t save myself any more than I can jump out of a window and fly, but thankfully, He doesn’t call us to do either one.

It can be easy to get impatient or wonder why we’re still wandering around the wilderness when other people have made it to the Promised Land, but remember, we are all on the same journey, but we may not all arrive at the same time! It matters more that we get there than who gets there first! When avoiding a craving on a diet, you have to eat nourishing food regularly and exercise self-control. If we are to avoid spiritual cravings, we must do the same. Partake and be filled with Christ daily and exercise self-control and we can avoid craving the things of this life and the pitfalls that accompany them!

John 6:57 - Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.

Psalm 46:10 - He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

God bless! I love you all! Glory, Honor, and Praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ the Bread of Life, and the Holy Spirit who fills our cup with His Presence!
