Hosea 2:19-20 Devotion by Stephen Taylor

Hosea 2:19-20

I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion. I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the LORD.

Betroth, by definition, means to enter into a formal agreement to marry. So, this morning, as I read and prayed, the Holy Spirit revealed these verses to me as Jesus’ wedding vows to us! He promises to marry us to Himself, and with Him comes everything that He is: righteousness, justice, love, compassion, and faithfulness! And unlike human wedding vows, these will last for all time!

I love how the heart of Christ and His desire to be with us is all throughout the Bible! It also speaks to me that the Lord chose to marry us and bring us to Himself, not the other way around! Jesus chose us long before we chose Him, and verses like this prove that! He desires that covenant relationship with each one of us and was willing to pay for it! The bride-price for us was death on a cross. For most of us, that price would be way too steep, but for our King and Savior, He willingly paid it!

Remember that this world will try to take everything from you, and only Jesus gave everything for you! There is a saying: “Always a bridesmaid and never a bride.” Well, today, that changes because Jesus is proposing. The question is, will you accept?

Isaiah 54:5 - For your Maker is your husband - - the LORD Almighty is his name - - the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.

God bless! I love you all! Glory, Honor, and Praise forever to God Almighty, King Jesus, and the Holy Spirit!
