John 2 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

John 2:1-2

On the third day, a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there, and Jesus and His disciples had also been invited to the wedding.

Today, I get to marry my best friend and an amazing daughter of God Almighty! Last night, we had the rehearsal, and at some point during the night, the Holy Spirit brought this story to mind and revealed to me that just like Jesus went to that wedding in Cana, so He would also be at ours! Let me tell you, that brought so much joy, peace, hope, love, and confidence to my heart!

At the wedding at Cana, Jesus turned water into wine, and although I don’t think we will see that today, I can tell you what He has changed! He took a fearful boy and made him into a faithful man, He took a lost soul and made him into a reconciled child of God, He took an addicted boy and turned him into a redeemed man, He took a broken heart of stone and replaced it with a flowing heart of flesh, He took my dead existence and turned it into a life of abundance in Him! He did all this and so much more, not because of who I am but because of Who He is and His overwhelming, unmeasurable, insurmountable, all-consuming love for me! And guess what? He is waiting to do the same for you!

Give Him your trash, and He will give you treasure, both in this life and the next! Jesus didn’t save me because I’m a “good person” or “worthy of being saved” but because He is love and desires to reconcile even His enemies back to His Father!

On a day of celebration and covenant with the Lord and my future wife Bethany Leavitt, I will be holding onto this verse below because God uses this verse to remind me that He proved His love for me before I ever knew His name and that as long as you have breath in your lungs, there is hope, and hope has a name; it’s Jesus!

Romans 5:8 - But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

God bless! I love you all! Glory, Honor, and Praise now and forever to Papa God, my King Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit the Spirit of Truth!

John 2:23-25

Now while He was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many people saw the signs He was performing and believed in His name. But Jesus would not entrust Himself to them, for He knew all people. He did not need any testimony about mankind, for He knew what was in each person.

Jesus didn’t entrust Himself to them but entrusted Himself to the Father for them! It's amazing to me that Christ, knowing full well what is inside of us, would still choose to give His life for us. But that’s the beautiful part about it, isn’t it? He knew how desperately wicked and lost we are/were. He knew that without Him, the gap between God and us would continue to grow until it culminated in eternal separation.

His love for us isn't based upon our love for Him or anything that is or isn’t inside of us. His love is pure, righteous, and holy, a love so powerfully perfect that it reveals the magnitude of His heart and exposes the gravity of our sin!

These people saw His miracles and believed in His name, but did they believe, love, and trust Him from their hearts? Or was it a shallow belief built on what He could do for them? Our God calls us to love and serve Him with everything we have, no holding back, no making excuses but to be sold out for the Lord. Our God didn’t hold back when He came as a baby, to live in obscurity and to die on the cross, so that we may be made the righteousness of God in Him!

We have a right standing with God, not through works or deeds but through the perfect blood of His Son poured out for the sins of the whole world. Our debt was paid before we were born, but it’s our choice whether to receive this gift of eternity or take our chances on our own. Who’s in your heart today? Thank You, Jesus!

1 John 2:2- He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

2 Corinthians 5:21- God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.

God bless! I love you all, but His love received the nails that paid our price and set us free! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!

John 2:23-25

Now while He was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many people saw the signs He was performing and believed in His name. But Jesus would not entrust Himself to them, for He knew all people. He did not need any testimony about mankind, for He knew what was in each person.

Though He would not trust them physically, He would still entrust us spiritually with the greatest gift of all, salvation and eternity with Him! It amazes me that Christ would be willing to save us even though He knows who we are, what we are capable of, and the immense depravity that lives inside of us. And this salvation that He brought wasn't just an easy decision or a snap of the fingers type of thing. But rather, it was a grueling and gruesome fight to the cross to save us. It's not like this decision didn't cost Him; it cost Him more than we will ever know, yet He did it willingly. No one forced Him or coerced Him. He saw our desperate need and gave the greatest gift known to man, His life!

Now we can be free in Him, not because we earned it or deserve it, but because He paid for it and proclaimed freedom for all who would call on His name! I don't think we can truly fathom this reality. The depth of Christ's love is so far beyond our comprehension. It goes beyond our understanding and definitely goes beyond our own sense or right, wrong, and what we think is fair. For His life and death was anything but fair, yet through the unfairness that He suffered, many have been brought back to the Father.

Before Christ ever stepped out of Heaven and into that manger, He knew what was in each heart and what lay ahead. Yet He did not waiver or falter at that moment but rather came obediently and faithfully to save desperate wretches like you and me! Let us live out our thank You to Him today!

Hebrews 2:9-11- But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone. In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what He suffered. Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.

God bless! I love you all, but His love is everything! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
