Zechariah 8 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Zechariah 8:6

This is what the LORD Almighty says: “It may seem marvelous to the remnant of this people at that time, but will it seem marvelous to me?” declares the LORD Almighty.

What a verse!!! But do we ever forget what it’s teaching us here? One of the things it is teaching us is that God is much! Much bigger, much wiser, much stronger, much MORE than we could ever ask for or imagine! So, why do we sometimes try to put Him in a box? Why, when we see a problem, do we revert back to “I don’t know how I’m gonna do this” instead of taking it to Him and watching Him handle it! It may not go the way we want, hope, or expect it to, but it will go exactly the way He knows it should. I’m not saying this is easy, but it is true.

This doesn’t mean God is responsible for all the sin, death, and destruction in this world. That’s not from Him but from us. Mankind tainted the perfect paradise, not the other way around. God sees things differently than we do, and He knows what’s best for us even when it doesn’t feel or seem like it. The world sees a mountain, but God sees a molehill. The world sees an ocean, but God sees a puddle. The world sees Jesus’ death on the cross as the end, but God sees the beginning of freedom for many and victory through His Son!

Another thing this verse teaches us is that the things He uses and does to blow our minds are just part of who He is! We're standing there saying we can’t believe it, and He is saying, “You ain’t seen nothing yet!” So, let’s give Him praise for Who He is and all He has done for us and lean into Him more and more each day! His character is flawless and unchanging, His power and strength unmatched, His love, mercy, and grace immeasurable. He is God Almighty, and He is calling out to you!

John 10:25-30 - Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.”

God bless! I love you all! Glory, Honor, and Praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our Risen King, and the Holy Spirit!

Zechariah 8:7,8

This is what the LORD Almighty says: “I will save my people from the countries of the east and the west. I will bring them back to live in Jerusalem; they will be my people, and I will be faithful and righteous to them as their God.”

As the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, traveling over all the world, so does our God’s faithful love and righteousness! He is all-encompassing, unfathomably excellent, and worthy of all praise! These verses hold a promise to the exiles and to us, a promise that our God will redeem and rescue His people regardless of where they may find themselves. We see a God who wants His people and is willing to go and get them, but do we want to be the people of His pasture?

Think about how much God wants us; it’s truly beyond our comprehension, but do we desire to be His? Are we desperate for Him? Does our heart ache when we sin against Him? These are all questions we must ask ourselves and reflect upon.

This walk with Christ isn’t a one-way street, meaning that it isn’t all on Him but we have a part and a choice in this relationship with Him. Yes, Christ makes the way, but we have the choice of how we will respond. The Father wanted the wayward children so badly that He was willing to send His Son to pay for sins He never committed and suffer a death He never created. Can our hearts, minds, and lives reflect that truth in increasing measure? Oh help us, Lord! Please forgive us and cleanse us, draw us near to You in humble surrender this day. For You love us so much that You pursued us to the cross, to the grave, and even to this day! Thank You, Jesus. Help us to desire You as much as You desire us!

Psalm 51:10-12- Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Matthew 5:6- “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

God bless! I love you all, but His love literally stepped out of the perfect harmony of Heaven to rescue us from Hell. Praise, glory, and honor both now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
