Exodus 11 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Exodus 11:8

“All these officials of yours will come to me, bowing down before me and saying, ‘Go, you and all the people who follow you!’ After that, I will leave.” Then Moses, hot with anger, left Pharaoh.

This verse comes closely after Moses reveals to Pharaoh what the Lord is planning to do in regards to the firstborn. That the firstborn of all the Egyptians will die and that those of the Hebrews will be spared. So, if Moses knows the victory is at hand, why is he angry here?

My thoughts are this: the Bible tells us that God wishes none shall perish but that all would come to salvation and that He doesn’t delight in the death of the wicked. God didn’t delight in what was about to be done, but I believe it made Him angry, and Moses followed in His God’s footsteps. Think about it, this righteous anger over the death of many because of the stubborn, selfish, hard heart of one man. I believe it made God angry, and Moses followed suit.

The more time we spend with the Lord, the closer we should get to Him. The closer we get to Him, the more we should resemble Him. And the more we resemble Him, the more we should react like Him! How are we doing on this?

Do we resemble and react like a child of God, or do we still look like the world and the flesh that He saved us from? Only through Christ can we be saved, and only through the Holy Spirit can we walk in this salvation with reverence, obedience, and love. He knew we couldn’t do it alone, so He stacked the deck in our favor, but we still have to choose if we will turn and follow Him or our flesh, so what’s it gonna be? His way (life) or our own (death)?

Ezekiel 33:10,11- “Son of man, say to the Israelites, ‘This is what you are saying: “Our offenses and sins weigh us down, and we are wasting away because of them. How then can we live?"’ Say to them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, people of Israel?’”

God bless! I love you all, but His love bought our freedom! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
