Leviticus 6:12,13
The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must not go out. Every morning the priest is to add firewood and arrange the burnt offering on the fire and burn the fat of the fellowship offerings on it. The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out.
Have our fires gone out? We see here that the Lord is commanding that the priests keep this physical fire burning, day and night. It is never to go out. But what about the spiritual fire burning within us? Do we keep it a flame, day and night, or only on Sundays? Is it lit at work and at home all the time, or only when we meet with certain people or go to specific places?
Because of Jesus, we are now a royal priesthood, so we too are charged to keep the fire burning, but ours is not a physical one but a spiritual one. One of love, of reverence, of obedience, of faith, and of the Spirit, not the flesh!
For the priests to fulfill this command, it would have taken obedience, dedication, and work; our spiritual lives are no different. We must be willing to obey Him completely, work at it daily, and be willing to dedicate our lives and everything in them to Him. Are we there? Are we willing?
A few ways to throw spiritual logs on these spiritual fires are to read our Bibles daily, pray daily, worship daily, and spend time with Him and in Him daily! One thing about a fire is that it’s easier to keep one going than it is to start a new one. So, I encourage you to make a choice today to keep that precious fire He has given you fueled up and burning forevermore! And if yours has burnt out, ask Him to light it anew and be ready for the results!
1 Peter 2:9- But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.
Isaiah 50:10- Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the word of His servant? Let the one who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the LORD and rely on their God.
God bless! I love you all but let His love consume us! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
