Numbers 18 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Numbers 18:7

“But only you and your sons may serve as priests in connection with everything at the altar and inside the curtain. I am giving you the service of the priesthood as a gift. Anyone else who comes near the sanctuary is to be put to death.”

Serving as a priest is a gift from God! The priest was allowed into places the common man wasn’t. He was allowed to serve in ways the common man wasn’t. He was allowed to offer sacrifices to God that the common man wasn’t. He was blessed to be able to go into the Holy of Holies (where the Presence of the LORD dwelt) and experience God in deep and intimate ways that the common man didn’t! And this isn’t just true for them but for us as well!

The Bible tells us that if we belong to Christ, we too are now a royal priesthood and can enjoy the benefits of closeness to God that the priests of old experienced and so much more! The common man now brought into the royal priesthood through Christ! Thank You, Jesus! They could only go into the Holy of Holies once a year, but we can go get in His Presence every day! We no longer have to sacrifice a sin offering to make ourselves right with Him because the blood of the perfect Lamb, Jesus Christ, covers and redeems all who call Him Lord! The curtain that separated Him from us was torn from top to bottom the day Jesus broke the grave!

So, we see all these beautiful benefits of being His priests today, but are we using them? Do we operate in the capacity He has given us or shy away from the closeness He desires? I encourage you today to approach the throne of grace with bold humility and excited confidence, knowing that your Father is waiting with open arms!

1 Peter 2:9- But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.

Matthew 27:50-52- And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, He gave up his spirit. At that moment, the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split, and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life.

Hallelujah, thank You, Jesus! God bless! I love you all, but His love opened the way! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
