Numbers 3 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Numbers 3:10

“Appoint Aaron and his sons to serve as priests; anyone else who approaches the sanctuary is to be put to death.”

This was a command the LORD gave Moses, but this wasn’t the way God designed it in the beginning. Our God desires close relationship with us; in the beginning, God was with Adam and Eve. Before there was sin to separate them, they lived in close proximity to each other. But then they sinned, and now there is separation.

Though this command is righteous and necessary, it wasn’t what God wanted in the beginning, and how this must have hurt His heart to have such a separation from His people. The ones He created for Himself are now separated and sectioned off from Him.

Which leads me to my second thought. It’s only through Christ that we can approach our God with humility and confidence, knowing that we will be accepted, not on the basis of who we are but Whose we are! Jesus Christ’s. Thank You, Jesus! But how often do we take this blessing for granted? We forget that what we take for granted (being able to approach our God, worship, and be in His Presence) was only a futuristic hope with a long-off fulfillment. So today, let’s try to remember how good we have it and how blessed we are to be able to run to our Father at a moment's notice and jump into His loving arms!

Hebrews 4:14-16- Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet He did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

God bless! I love you all, but His love closes the gap! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
