Revelation 5 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Revelation 5:9

And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals because you were slain, and with your blood, you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.”

Revelation 7:9- After this, I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people, and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.

Today is Election Day. A day that causes division in this nation, but sadly, it can also cause division in God’s house and His family. But that’s not the plan God has for us. He doesn’t call us to be a Body divided but a Body united in Christ. I’m not going to tell you how to vote, but I will say that we are to do everything for the glory of God, which includes voting. Christ didn’t purchase us with His precious blood for us to be Republican or Democrat Christians. He didn’t purchase us to be the black church, the white church, or the Asian church. He didn’t purchase us to be Methodist, or Baptist, or any other division of His Church. But He bought us to be one in Him as He is in the Father.

These verses show us that though we may look different and be from different places, we are to be one in Him! They are not divided, and we aren’t supposed to be either. We are crippling ourselves with the divisions we cling to. Make no mistake; our enemy is not divided. He and his people have one goal for this world and are working together to accomplish it, while God’s house bickers over things that may or may not matter.

I’m not saying that true and righteous doctrine doesn’t matter, but what I’m saying is that we allow differences to divide us, and in that division, our weaknesses are exposed. Imagine what would happen if all of man’s division was replaced with God’s unity in Christ. How strong the Body would be and how far the reach of the Church would go! So, today, love on a brother or sister who voted differently than you because at one point in our lives, we all voted against the truth, and yet the Truth loved us anyway!

1 Corinthians 12:25-27- so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

God bless! I love you all, but His love is the ultimate vote for our freedom! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
