2 Chronicles 13 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

2 Chronicles 13:18

The Israelites were subdued on that occasion, and the people of Judah were victorious because they relied on the LORD, the God of their ancestors.

2 Chronicles 14:11,12- Then Asa called to the LORD his God and said, "LORD, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, LORD our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this vast army. LORD, you are our God; do not let mere mortals prevail against you." The LORD struck down the Cushites before Asa and Judah. The Cushites fled.

Full reliance upon God will bring victory and deliverance from our enemies! In both of these situations, Judah was delivered from her enemies because she relied upon the LORD. It was not her vast army, her wealth, her power, or anything else she had, but it was simply yet profoundly her reliance upon the LORD and who He is.

What are we facing today, and are we marching into that battle with the same confidence they had? Look at the beautiful prayer king Asa prayed here; it's a prayer of desperation, a prayer of exultation of the LORD and humbling of himself, it's a prayer of full surrender and reliance, and it is met with a resounding "YES, I WILL" from the LORD. He is faithful, He is all-powerful, He is willing and waiting for us to rely upon Him and rest in His victory.

The Bible teaches us to stand firm, but if our foundation isn't in Christ alone and the strength we have doesn't come from the Holy Spirit, then we aren't going to stand for long at all! We may white-knuckle it for a moment, but in the end, we will come crashing down. But this, my friends, is encouraging to me! It takes the pressure off; no longer do I have to produce my own strength or rest in my own abilities but rather surrender to Him who holds it all!

God has given us everything we need, but have we given Him everything we have? Let today be a day of victory and deliverance in our lives as we fully submit, surrender, and rely upon the LORD of Heaven's Armies!

Psalm 46:7-11- The LORD of Heaven's Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. Come, see the glorious works of the LORD: See how He brings destruction upon the world. He causes wars to end throughout the earth. He breaks the bow and snaps the spear; He burns the shields with fire. "Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world." The LORD of Heaven's Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. Interlude

God bless! I love you all, but His love brought about the ultimate victory! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
