2 Chronicles 30 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

2 Chronicles 30:10,11

The couriers went from town to town in Ephraim and Manasseh, as far as Zebulun, but people scorned and ridiculed them. Nevertheless, some from Asher, Manasseh and Zebulun humbled themselves and went to Jerusalem.

Hezekiah had proclaimed a time of celebration, a time of returning to the LORD, a time of favor both from God and from man, and a time of blessings and closeness to the LORD. Yet how do the people respond? Divided, much like the world is today. The Bible teaches us that there is nothing new under the sun, that everything that has been will be again. If people responded back then this way to the offer of repentance that would bring about victory, grace, and mercy, then why would we expect that Christ’s greater offer of these things would be received any differently?

It is a sad reality that we, as people in our “vast knowledge,” reject what has been made so plain to some. So why should we care if they're not gonna care, and why run after them if they are just gonna reject Him anyway? Because Christ cares and goes after the one that wanders off! He doesn’t look at the outward but the inward and goes the extra mile in order to share Who He is. Christ didn’t give His life on the cross so that a select few would be saved but that all men would have that option of eternally living with Him.

The invitation that Christ has offered has never been offered to a saved man but only to sinners. There is no one who has received salvation and then received Christ. So, though they may scoff and reject the message we carry, we must carry it boldly, lovingly, honestly, and faithfully to the glory of God! Our responsibility isn’t their response but that they hear and see Christ in all we do!

Acts 4:11- Jesus is “‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

Jeremiah 1:17- “Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you. Do not be terrified by them, or I will terrify you before them.”

Jeremiah 26:2,3- “This is what the LORD says: Stand in the courtyard of the LORD’s house and speak to all the people of the towns of Judah who come to worship in the house of the LORD. Tell them everything I command you; do not omit a word. Perhaps they will listen and each will turn from their evil ways. Then I will relent and not inflict on them the disaster I was planning because of the evil they have done.”

God bless! I love you all, but His love is truth! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
